Perhaps you don't even know anyone who has ever served in the Airforce. Most people take the decision to join up after reaching a major decision point in their life. For me it was a fantastic opportunity to make a fresh start. To get away from a relationship that was going nowhere and it offered some great career opportunities at a time when the UK was in a recession. In times like these the military is often a lifeline for young men and women aiming to better themselves to get away from the daily grind of dead end minimum wage jobs. That's if they are lucky to currently have a job. Very few employers are offering decent entry positions for young adults at the moment. The military is one of the very few that is actively seeking fit,young men and women to occupy some very responsible, technical and rewarding roles. Don't get me wrong, life in the military is no walk in the park. You will be expected to work in some of the most arduous and demanding environments in the world. Often to a strict deadline where others are depending upon YOU to get the job done. Lives can depend upon whether you have done your job properly. Tell me?
